the hydrometeorological service of Kazakhstan was founded in January 1922. Today it is a major scientific-production enterprise of the Ministry of energy. 2 March 1999, Government Decree № 185 of it has the status of Republican State Enterprise – (RGE) “Kazhydromet”. To date, the membership of the BWG “Kazhydromet” includes 15 branches in each oblast of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the cities of Almaty and Astana where you work more than 3.5 thousand people. Network of the country totals 328 weather stations, 83 of them have international status and are included in the global network. Observed at these stations the weather forecast is transferred to the world data centres. Along with this, RSE “Kazhydromet” has 307 hydrological stations, where selected samples of water for chemical analysis, made calculations of water balance for rivers and lakes. In the laboratory are carried out hydrochemical and hydrobiological analyses of more than 70 species of polluting elements. In addition, RSE “Kazhydromet” provides information on agrometeorological and ecological state of the environment, and conducts certain types of work according to the approved price list.
RGP "Kazhydromet” together with the Services of the 192 countries included in the world Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized Agency United Nations & authoritative source of information for the UN system on the state and behaviour of the Earth's atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, formed by climate and the resultant distribution of water resources.
RGP "Kazhydromet” is conducting round the clock monitoring, i.e., observes, analyzes, predicts and warns about the behavior of nature in a variety of environments, namely air, water, soil. RSE “Kazhydromet” – the only legally responsible body entitled to official information services to organizations of any storm warnings of impending dangerous and natural phenomena on the territory of our state. Thus, together with the countries-participants of the WMO, Kazakhstan takes an active part in the struggle against the threats of nature that threaten humanity in the 21st century.
